Forestry Commission

A broad agenda, a wide impact

Misunderstood and unengaged

The Forestry Commission’s work in Britain brings benefit to the nation in many different ways, contributing to education, health and conservation, recreation and the economy. But what it does and how it provides value to the taxpayer was not always well understood. The Commission wanted a framework for communicating its role so they it could engage more effectively with the public at large and specific stakeholder groups.

Beyond the wood

We worked with a senior team from the Commission to define a style and approach to communicating the what, why and how of its work and a programme of internal workshops to engage teams behind its purpose and value. This was supported with a new corporate brochure describing the scope of the Commission’s work and making it accessible. It showed the Commission as a modern, high tech organisation with a strong scientific base, a problem solver as well as a land manager.

Public support, pioneering science

The Commission continues to be recognised on a world stage for its pioneering approach to getting the best out of Britain’s forests and to enjoy strong public support for the value they bring.

Did you know?

The largest Forest in the UK is the Galloway Forest Park, which measures 770 km squared.
